From Desalination to National Security: Is Israel Prepared for Threats to Its Water Supply?
More than three decades ago, the late Professor Arnon Soffer identified seawater desalination as one of the key solutions to water scarcity in Israel and the Middle East. Since then, desalination has become a remarkable technological and national achievement. Yet recent events highlight a new geostrategic challenge: How can Israel ensure a continuous water supply when the infrastructure on which it depends is itself vulnerable to disruptions and threats?
